I hope you find this bit of information about me and my business helpful!

My Business Philosophy

Nobody's perfect but we can all strive for excellence. And I do try to give all my stones an excellent cut and polish. I may grind away a little more material to achieve a " fine make" but it will be worth it in the end with a much more beautiful gem

About Me

I've been cutting gems for over 41 years now and often look back at my beginnings when my lapidary shop consisted of and old washing machine motor whith a sanding and polishing head mounted on the shaft with an aluminum pan and foil as a splash shield. It was crude but hey! I was cutting stones! Now I have numerous saws, grinders, sanders, polishers and faceting machines. During high school I worked at a rock shop part time and then full time before trying diamond cutting as a profession. I earned my Graduate Gemologist diploma from the Gemological Institute of America in 1980 and have been cutting colored stones and diamonds as my profession ever sence.

My Company

I started Headwaters Lapidary in 1996 in Coudersport, Pennsylvania which is near the headwaters of the Allegheny River which is the farthest most eastern part of the Mississippi river system. I moved to the Pittsburgh area in 1998 and kept the name and logo to remind me of a very beautiful part of the country.

My Shop
